| The Companion Proficiency Test |

The Companion Proficiency Test assesses Writing and Speaking skills. A student who has applied to UCM may choose to take this test only if they have already submitted a language proficiency test score for the following tests: Duolingo and iTEP, but who have not yet reached the minimum subscore requirements.
Important Information: This test may be taken by students prior to their arrival at UCM. UCM reserves the right to retest a student upon arrival if there is a difference in the level of English as compared to the Companion Proficiency Test results. The scores for this test may only be used for Admission to the University of Central Missouri. If you are not sure if you are eligible to take the Companion Proficiency Test, please contact Valerie Heming at vheming@ucmo.edu.
Scoring: Total: 41 points:
• Undergraduate:
- IEP to degree = below 32 points
- Full Admission = 32 points or higher
• Graduate:
- IEP to degree = below 37 points
- Full Admission = 37 points or higher

UCM′s English Proficiency Test assesses Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking skills, with a focus on Vocabulary and Grammar subskills. A student who has applied to UCM may choose to take this test in lieu of TOEFL or IELTS.
Important Information: This test may be taken only one time by students prior to their arrival at UCM. UCM reserves the right to retest a student upon arrival if there is a suspicious difference in the level of English as compared to the UCM English Proficiency Test results. The scores for this test may only be used for Admission to the University of Central Missouri.
Scoring: Total: 120 points:
• Undergraduate: Conditional = 52 points and below; ELIPS = 53-60 points; Full Academic: = 61 points
• Graduate: Conditional = 60 points and below; ELIPS = 61-78 points; and Full Academic = 79 points.
