Ceramics: Ceramic Surface Design   

This week-long course will focus on manipulating the surface of clay in its greenware state using slip, oxides, and underglazes.  Through lectures and demonstrations, students will explore imagery composition and design techniques on sculptural and/ or unitarian forms including sgraffito, Mishima, water etching, paper and tape templates, wax resist, and more! Students will spend the morning sessions creating forms and the afternoon experimenting with surface design. A variety of handbuilding and wheel throwing techniques will also be demonstrated. Students will also have the opportunity to fire and glaze work produced in the course. 

All levels of experience are welcome!

Option to take Continuing Education cred ($57/credit) OR Graduate Credit $138/hour up to three hours)  Contact:  workforce@ucmo.edu if you would like the graduate credits.
